Pallet jacks, also known as pallet truck or pallet pump for easy pallet handling. The pallet jack is manually operated with a hydraulic pump.

At Cape Castors we stock three different models of pallet jacks, all capable of handling 2500kg.

Standard pallet jack with double bogie polyurethane wheels

1220mm fork length x 685mm fork width, with double polyurethane wheels for extra strength.

1220mm fork length x 685mm fork width, with double nylon wheels for extra strength. The nylon wheel jacks would be ideal for operating in cold temperatures such as blow freezers and walk in fridge’s.

Narrow fork pallet jack with double bogie polyurethane wheels

1220mm fork length x 550mm fork width, with double polyurethane wheels for extra strength. The narrow fork pallet jack is suitable for the Euro pallet witch is slightly narrower than the standard pallet.

• The most important factor to take into account when choosing a castor is to determine the weight of the application or goods that needs to be moved.
• It is important to work with a safety factor to spread the load evenly, for example if your application requires 4 castors, you would spread the total weight over the carrying capacity of 3 castors to allow for the safety factor. Example: if the total weight is 200kg, three of the castors need to be able to support the full weight of 200kg each carrying for example 70kg equalling 210kg. Surfaces vary and might not always be even, thus to prevent failure of wheels when pushing a trolley (or other application) with 4 castors over an uneven surface at some point one castor might be “airborn” for a brief moment and the other 3 castors now need to support all the weight.

• When the weight has been determined also note there are different wheel diameter castors available each carrying different loads (for example: 32mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm up to 400mm) which could also be an important factor as certain applications and use could be height restricted. Also take into account the total height (top to bottom height) of the complete castor.
• Choosing the type of wheel for your castor (ranging from nylon wheels, nylon wheels with polyurethane bonding, rubber wheels, cast iron wheels, cast iron wheels with polyurethane bonding) is also a very important factor. Rubber wheels are the most common wheels used in castor brackets as the rubber wheels we sell are non marking, absorbing some of the shock when moving goods over an uneven surface like paving, asphalt etc. and reducing noise and vibration when carting goods around. In the manufacturing industry some companies have expensive epoxy coated floors and it is important to use the correct wheel to prevent damage to the flooring.
